"The
Handy Rope"
Stan Kruml,
The Horses Friend, unveiled his revolutionary new product
“The Handy Rope” to enthusiastic
crowds this past month.
Kruml,
who has spent his whole life with horses created “The
Handy Rope” to offer a simple, pain free alternative
to the halter.
“When
you work with as many horses as I do, you want something that
you know is safe, convenient, strong, and that wont hurt a
horse,” said Kruml.
“The
Handy Rope,” which is made of soft cotton rope
allows for a custom, pain free fit on a horse of any size
or age. Within seconds Stan taught me how to custom fit his
product onto anything from a foal to a draft horse. This one
size fits all halter alternative makes moving horses so incredibly
easy, you wont want to use anything else! No more looking
for a halter that fits, dropping them in the dirt (or less
aromatic areas), and luggin the bulk of a traditional halter
around with you.

“The
Handy Rope” is compact, easy to use, multi
functional as well as safe and comfortable. By following the
simple directions you can secure the rope with something equal
to a magician knot. Secure “The Handy Rope”
on your horse, then when you’re ready to remove it all
you have to do is slip it off the horses nose and the horse
is free. The twist / knot (whichever you’ve used to
secure it with) virtually disappears by tugging on either
side of the rope. The aspect which impressed me was when I
removed “The Handy Rope” from
my horse and put on his fly mask. With a halter it’s
a struggle, balancing the halter and maneuvering the mask.
With “The Handy Rope” I wasn’t
spooking him with the halter or hitting him on the side of
his head. The rope falls down around the horses neck and makes
slipping the fly mask on really easy. This is partly due to
the fact that the horse doesn’t realize that he is free
and the other is that you are not creating a fearful / painful
situation.
Dr. Don
Moore of Hands on Equine Care, an equine chiropractor, marveled
at the revolutionary product and was particularly excited
about how and where the rope fits on the horse. “Injury
to the horses pole is one of the top reasons for chiropractic
adjustment. Because of its design, “The Handy Rope”
actually sits lower on the horses neck, which means no stress
/pain to the pole area. In my first evaluation I looked for
every reason I could to tell Stan that he had wasted 10 years
of research, but after a few hours I could only shake my head
and wonder why someone hadn’t come up with this idea
before!” What this means is that even if you have a
horse that pulls back, or a very young horse that is learning
to lead, there is no stress to the very vulnerable pole area,
which is exactly where a halter sits.
The
Handy Rope, which is so compact you can put it in
your coat pocket, store it in your glove compartment, or take
it along on trail rides, is simple to use and big on multi-tasking.
It’s the perfect tool to teach head shy horses, teach
a horse to lead and not pull back, teach a horse to hobble
as well as ponying your horse. All of this in addition to
the regular daily tying, moving and turning out makes it a
must have tool for every barn. This product is definitely
not another gimmick - The Handy Rope really is a tool, not
a toy!
The
Handy Rope comes in 14 & 16 foot lengths, the
latter for when you want to pony a horse. There is a Handy
Rope Colt & Filly model that is extra soft, and the original
Handy Rope that has a slightly tighter twist for horses over
a year old. In addition, The Horses Friend offers The 3/4”
Handy Rope for added strength for horses that pull back. Custom
lengths are available. All products come with easy to follow
directions, and an instructional video will be available to
download from the website very soon.
With all
of the benefits I expected “The Handy Rope”
to be a $40.00 + investment, but at only $20.00
including tax for the original and Colt /Filly models, and
$36.00 including tax for the 3/4” Model, it’s
a tool that you won't want to be without.
